NOT GOOD ENOUGH BARNABY!
I have no doubt that my Grandfather will be turning over in his grave as our current Australian Government seems destined to drive our economy into the ground.
My Grandfather fought in World War 2 to keep this country safe and free from tyranny and here we have our elected leaders showing no common sense and openly ignoring the facts.
It's even a more bitter pill to swallow as a person from Central Queensland.
Like other regional areas we rely on our elected politicians to actually represent us. Lately we just seem to be shaking our heads at the decisions coming out of Canberra and our State Governments. I'm sure I'm not alone as we witness our own National Party sell out the people who put them in that position to protect us from what is happening.
We saw Barnaby Joyce sprouting how he would not be bowing down to the senior party in their coalition and that he would in fact be ensuring that common sense did prevail when it came to whether Australia would be making a commitment to zero emissions by 2050 or not.
China emitted over 5 billion tons of CO2 in 2019 which is nearly 30% of global emissions. Combined with Russia and India together their emissions were over 50%.
Australia contributes way under 1% of global emissions and is reliant on coal for 70% of our power needs. You could shut the entire country down and it would virtually make no difference to the worlds CO2 emissions.
In fact China and India are currently building enormous numbers of new coal fired power stations and yet here we are ready to shut down our country and the reasons it seems are all based on lies.
I don't know why these decisions are being made but I think we can safely say that except for a very few, our own elected representatives aren't making too much noise against it and I haven't heard one of them yet threaten to leave their party because of it.
Barnaby's pathetic rhetoric has resulted in the National Party receiving an extra seat in the ministry and according to Barnaby, money for the regions. He has refused however to say exactly what it is we are supposed to have gained and you don't have to be a genius to know that his promises are like him, a waste of time. The same as his promise that the National Party would not sell out to whoever is pushing this agenda to bankrupt our country.
What I do know is that we need to hold them all accountable and put them last on the ballet paper at the next election. That doesn't mean put the opposition party ahead of them either but it does mean we need to seriously look at our choices and ensure that the person you are electing is openly stating how he is going to represent you in parliament, regardless of what party he is in. You may not like Clive Palmer and Pauline Hanson but one thing is for sure, they have the guts to stand up for Australia and stand up for the interests of all Australians.
We are well passed the stage where we can afford to continue voting the same way our parents did or the simple fact that you have “always voted for the Nationals” or whoever.
The time to change our vote is now. We need to find the courage to do so and hold our heads up high as we drop that ballet paper into the box. We need to do this at the next election before it is too late. They are treating us like sheep – so lets show them how wrong they are.
Don't just do it for yourselves but do it for your kids and their kids.
